Why?
We saw a gap in opportunities for young people to learn and enter the film industry.
This school offers a taster with talks and experience shared by some of London’s local film makers, as well as practical experiences with professional equipment.

Where will it be?
The school will be held in West Norwood, a short walk from West Norwood and West Dulwich train stations as well as local bus connections.
When is it happening?
5th - 9th August 2024
The school will run from Monday - Friday approximately from 10am until 4pm.

The school will run from Monday - Friday approximately from 10am until 4pm.
What will I learn?
Learning will cover the core film making process - how to tell stories, how to operate and exploring camera work, sound and lighting.
You will hear from a variety of professionals across the industry learning about their personal experience in film.
As well as this, participants will make a documentary short film in teams, giving opportunity to put into practice and develop skills learnt, whilst being supported and coached by the team.
Who can apply?
Anyone aged 16-22 - no previous qualifications or experience is required, although those with existing film interest and some experience would be preferred.

Is there a cost?
The film school is completely free! Lunch is even included.
Is there a stipend?
Sadly we do not cover transport or accomodation.
Will I make something?
At the end of the week, each participant will have made a short documentary as part of a small team. This film can be used as part of your future portfolio of work.
Will I learn to edit?
Sadly we do not have the time to teach editing within the week of teaching, although we will cover the editing process.
There might possibly be future opportunities to learn to edit beyond the weeks training.
Sadly we do not cover transport or accomodation.

They are running the film school alongside their exisiting film projects; this enables them to bring current industry perspective, skills and experience.
They have run the film school in London previously as well as Freddie running a similar school in Cape Town for 4 years.
